Over the past few months, We Are Titans has recruited a number of talented Rails developers. We want to ensure the best possible outcome for ourselves but also for our candidates -- whether they join us or some other team.
Our approach is probably unique within the Ruby community. instead of pitching to our candidates, we engage them as counsellors, helping them to determine how best to find career happiness. This way, both parties are likely to walk away with something valuable, no matter the outcome.
Evan will discuss how we came to approach hiring as an attempt to help our candidates, how it has benefited them and us, and why you should consider adopting a similar approach
About Evan Light:
After thirteen years of on and off again federal government projects, Evan sees himself as an escaped government contractor (one and a half years liberated!).
He lives just outside Ocean City, MD, isolated from his beloved Ruby community, on the edge of civilization itself. There he labors as Co-owner of We Are Titans, a Ruby on Rails development shop, and makes his dark plans for the next annual Ruby DCamp unconference (September 2010). He is kept company by a wife, four cats, and entirely too much computer hardware.
His bizarre idea of a vacation is made up of attending technical (mostly Ruby) conferences and other events as well as the occasional speaking engagement.
